Birds and Beans Coffee House Presents Steve Schuch at McLane Center
Steve Schuch has delighted audiences across the US and Europe. Fusing Celtic/Folk roots with a storyteller’s heart and humor, his artistry touches people on many different levels. Irrepressible singing, audience harmonies, and soaring instrumentals on guitar and violin are all hallmarks of his performances.
Many of Steve’s pieces reflect his love for the natural world. Haunting violin and loon calls, nautical songs and tales of whales, a rollicking “cold-blooded” love song in honor of reptiles, are all part of his wide-ranging repertoire. His curiosity extends to humans as well. A keen wit and compassion shine through his songs exploring love, our human foibles, and growing older.
“Music is a doorway to our spirits and imagination,” says Steve. “In my concerts, I’m always looking for that balance between some songs and stories just for fun, and the deeper ones that draw us together as community.”
Beyond his solo work, Steve has performed and recorded with folk legend Pete Seeger,
Windham Hill’s Will Ackerman, storyteller Odds Bodkin, and his own Celtic ensemble, The Night Heron Consort. Like a number of artists, he donates 10% of the profits from his CD and book sales to groups working for sustainability and ending world hunger.
